Nick has unique experience in academic and admissions counseling and recruitment having worked in a variety of settings including boarding schools, college admissions and most recently for an organization that specializes in professional development courses for teachers. He guides students and their families through the school admissions process, helping to craft distinct solutions for MAIA students’ academic futures.

Nick Kruter

School & College Placement Counselor 

Prior to joining MAIA, Nick was the Director of Community and Outreach for FolioCollaborative, an online platform used by independent schools to manage faculty professional development. Working with a variety of independent schools throughout the United States, Nick was exposed to the essential efforts these institutions are making to manage professional development, learning, and evaluation. Before joining the team at FolioCollaborative, Nick held admissions counseling positions at The Hotchkiss School and Tufts University. As an admissions counselor at Hotchkiss, he interviewed prospective students and their families, evaluated applications, served on the 9th grade selection committee, and supported recruiting efforts in the Northeast. While at Hotchkiss, Nick also served as dorm faculty for 11th- and 12th- grade boys and coached track and field. At Tufts, Nick managed recruitment territories in Virginia, Long Island, and Massachusetts evaluated applications and co-directed the campus visit program.

Nick received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Davidson College in North Carolina and earned his Master of Science in Organizational Change Management from The New School’s Milano School of Policy, Management, and Environment.
